Logitech MX Revolution; Whoa!

December 23, 2006 at 12:17 pm

OK, this is getting difficult; it's only a mouse, right?

  • Hyper-fast frictionless wheel scrolling
  • SmartShift™ scrolling technology (detects the application and changes it's scrolling mode for optimal usage)
  • Rechargable Li-Ion battery w/ stealth 4-level battery level meter
  • Wireless USB 2.0 connectivity
  • Laser engine precision and control

A mouse? It sounds like I'm describing some kind of military weapon, but yes, that's the feature list for the new Logitech MX Revolution mouse which Logitech has proclaimed is the World's most advanced mouse.

I was hooked on the XG Laser 2500 at first because of it's 6 DPI switch button that lets you jump between 600, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, and 2500 DPI at the press of a button for immediate accuracy. Funny enough, the CMOS chip in the XG Laser 2500 is made by Agilent, the same company Logitech works with; but the 2500 is 500 DPI ahead of any Logitech mouse.

Anyway, the MX Revolution is quickly becoming a favorite on my list; wish I could test them both!

This is one of those products that I didn't even know I wanted (or needed) until I saw it at an electronics store. I didn't even know Logitech released this thing - but once I checked it out, I was friggin' hooked.

A hundred bucks for a mouse is a lot of money, but after playing w/ the mouse for a few minutes, I decided it was well worth it. This mouse is so smooth and accurate - it's comfortable too... it kinda cradles your hand a little bit. The buttons are really solid and don't feel like they were loosely attached. The scroll wheel is the tits - it's a click wheel and a smooth scrolling wheel, all in one - you can change the mode by pressing down on the wheel.

The only cheesy part of the package is the stand - the rechargeable base kinda seems like a second thought as it's pretty simple, small and not very supportive. But I'd rather have the design team spending most of their time on the mouse rather than the stand.

All in all, the best mouse I've ever owned - no regrets.
